I spent time writing scenes from Life as We Know It, where Stacy meets Lance. As I was going over several different drafts of the same scene, I read a version I had forgotten about when a waitress was flirting with Ace and inquired if Stacy was his wife. Naturally, he responded that she was just a friend, which opened the doors for her to continue her unsuccessful advances on him.
Waitress: Are you sure you don’t want a glass of wine to share with your wife?
Ace: We’re just friends.
Waitress: If you want anything else, call me. My number is on the back. And I mean, anything.
Ace: I’m married.
Waitress: Married, but you’re not dead, right?
Ace considered this slightly amusing and Stacy's reply was, “Don’t you know, there’s nothing sexier than a married man, who’s off limits? You might as well have plastered a huge, red target on your forehead.”
